Al Albiston has over 20 years of experience litigating environmental and occupational safety and health cases in trial and appellate courts.

Immediately prior to joining AquaLaw in November 2009, Al served as an Assistant Attorney General of Virginia and General Counsel to the Virginia State Water Control Board. He litigated on behalf of the Board as well as the Department of Environmental Quality (VDEQ), the Virginia Marine Resource Commission, and the Virginia Department of Forestry. Al also represented and advised VDEQ and the Department of Conservation and Recreation in a variety of water and stormwater-related matters.

Earlier in his career, Al represented the Virginia Department of Labor and Industry, where he litigated significant Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA) cases in Virginia trial courts, conducted annual training seminars on regulatory inspections, and served as a Hearing Officer in formal agency hearings.

At AquaLaw, Al is continuing to focus his practice on trial and appellate litigation, while also counseling and defending regulated entities in a wide range of compliance and enforcement matters.
